Final Group Activity Presentation: Instructional Design & Curriculum Development
Final Group Activity Presentation: Mastering Virtual Training Techniques Presentation Overview: In this final group activity presentation, participants will demonstrate their proficiency in virtual training techniques learned throughout the training program. The presentation will showcase their understanding and application of key concepts from Weeks 1 to 3, including: Types of Learning and Learning Frameworks - How Adults Learn Applying Learning Theory To Effective Facilitation Instructional Design Techniques Presentation Structure: The presentation will consist of three main sections, each corresponding to one of the key concepts. Participants will collaborate to create and deliver a cohesive presentation, incorporating elements from each week's learning. Presentation Format: The presentation will be delivered virtually using a video conferencing platform, with each participant taking on a specific role or segment of the presentation. This framework provides a structured approach for participants to create a cohesive presentation demonstrating their proficiencies in virtual training techniques across Weeks 1-3 of the training program. It encourages collaboration, creativity, and effective communication skills in presenting their knowledge and skills in virtual training. These scenarios provide diverse opportunities for trainer participants to demonstrate their skills in designing and delivering effective train-the-trainer sessions across different training contexts and delivery formats. Presentation Delivery: Each presentation section will be delivered by a different participant or group of participants, with clear transitions between sections. Participants will use engaging visuals, interactive elements, and dynamic delivery to capture the audience's attention and demonstrate their proficiency in virtual training techniques. Q&A Session: Following the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session where audience members can ask clarifying questions and provide feedback on the presentations content and delivery. Evaluation: Participants will be evaluated based on their understanding of key concepts, application of techniques, presentation delivery, and overall effectiveness in conveying their proficiency in virtual training techniques.

Train the Trainer Track I (Foundations of Effective Training)

Types of Learning /learning Modalities: (Obj: 1-1)

Instructional Environments  –

  • In-Person – This delivery method involves engaging, educating, and inspiring learners. It requires effective communication, engaging presentation abilities, and the capability to present information. A trainer must be skilled in delivering content with enthusiasm, incorporating interactive elements, and adapting their style to suit diverse learning preferences. How you speak and hold yourself can captivate your audience and command their attention — or lose them completely. Stand tall, project your voice, and own the stage
  • Live Virtual – All the above behaviors cross over to a live virtual environment. It’s important to ensure you use the “space” around you and engage with your virtual learners.
  • Hybrid – Hybrid learning allows instructors and learners to use a mix of onsite and remote learning to complete training courses. Instructors can set up asynchronous training ahead of time with the correct materials. Learners can then consume that learning content when they can at their own pace. Both parties can then come together during a synchronous training session to practice what they’ve learned.

In-Person Trainer:

Physical Presence Management: An in-person trainer needs to be adept at managing physical space, ensuring that the training environment is conducive to learning, arranging seating, managing materials, and handling any logistical issues that may arise.

Body Language and Nonverbal Cues: Since they are physically present with their audience, in-person trainers must be highly attuned to body language and nonverbal cues from participants. They need to be able to adjust their teaching style and content based on the reactions and engagement of the learners.

Hands-On Demonstrations and Activities: In-person trainers often incorporate hands-on demonstrations, group activities, and interactive exercises to enhance learning. They need to have the skills to facilitate these activities effectively and provide personalized feedback.

Physical Materials and Props: Depending on the nature of the training, in-person trainers may need to use physical materials, props, or equipment. They should be knowledgeable about how to use these tools safely and effectively.

Audience Management: In a physical setting, managing the dynamics of the audience, including handling disruptions, addressing questions, and fostering participation, requires specific skills in crowd control and group facilitation.

Live Virtual Trainer:

Technical Proficiency: Live virtual trainers need to be proficient with the technology and platforms used for delivering virtual training sessions. This includes familiarity with video conferencing software, virtual classroom platforms, online collaboration tools, and multimedia presentation software.

Engagement in a Virtual Environment: Keeping participants engaged in a virtual environment can be challenging. Virtual trainers need to be skilled at using various engagement techniques such as polls, breakout rooms, chat interactions, and multimedia elements to maintain participant interest and participation.

Digital Content Creation: Live virtual trainers often create digital content such as slides, videos, and interactive modules to support their training sessions. They need to have expertise in creating visually appealing and effective digital content that enhances learning outcomes.

Virtual Classroom Management: Managing a virtual classroom requires different strategies compared to an in-person setting. Virtual trainers should be able to effectively manage online discussions, moderate chat interactions, and troubleshoot technical issues that participants may encounter.

Adaptability to Technology: Technology glitches and connectivity issues are common in virtual training sessions. Virtual trainers need to be adaptable and quick-thinking to troubleshoot problems on the fly and ensure a smooth learning experience for participants.
